The BJP had severed ties with the SBSP in 2019.

Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party leader Om Prakash Rajbhar today rejected reports that his party is returning to the BJP-led NDA fold. He also called the reports of his meeting with Interior Minister Amit Shah unfounded. Rajbhar said he is preparing local opinion polls and working for the victory of the Samajwadi party alliance.

“The reports are unfounded. I have not been to Delhi and I have not met anyone. I am busy preparing for local polls to make the SP alliance candidates prevail,” Rajbhar said.

He claimed that the photos shared on social media to substantiate his meeting with Shah are old photos being reposted. “Those are old photos. Someone can repost the old photos and say whatever they want,” Rajbhar said.

SBSP’s national spokesman Piyush Mishra also dismissed the reports. “The news that the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj party is going with the Bharatiya Janata party is unfounded, the party was with the Samajwadi party, is and will remain so!” he said.

SBSP’s national secretary general and chief spokesperson, said: “As we created atmosphere by posting old photos, the news itself became fake. Beware of rumours…”

The BJP had severed its ties with the SBSP in 2019. The SBSP, in conjunction with the Samajwadi party, had contested the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. While the alliance won 125 seats, the SBSP got six of the 19 seats it contested.
