UP chief Yogi Adityanath came to New Delhi on Wednesday to participate in a crucial party rally on the next government formation in UP. Along with Adityanath, BJP State President Swatantra Dev Singh, Secretary of State Sunil Bansal and the two deputy CMs Keshav Maurya and Dinesh Sharma also attended the meeting. Also from the central team were party chairman JP Nadda, general secretary (organization) BL Santosh, UP leader Radha Mohan Singh and UP election leader Dharmendra Pradhan.

Sources told ET that the meeting was held to give final approval to the list of 36 candidates for MLC elections in the state. At the same time, they also discussed the new cabinet formation. On Tuesday evening, a meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Interior Minister Amit Shah, JP Nadda and Pradhan had taken place at the Prime Minister’s residence on the next government and cabinet in the state.

Some state leaders believed that the number of deputy CMs should be increased this time to give leadership space to more castes. The central leadership is still considering these suggestions and a final decision will be made in two to three days. The party claims that a large number of women and SC voters voted for the BJP. The cabinet formation will be an attempt to balance the caste equation along with young faces.
