The technicians who went on strike on Tuesday demanded a salary review, redundancy payment in salary, health benefits and promotion according to the salary structure, sources said.

About 1,700 aircraft technicians from AI Engineering Services Limited, owned by the center, went on strike on Tuesday over various salary-related issues, sources said. However, Air India, which is owned by the Tata Group and which uses the services of AIESL, told PTI that no flights were delayed due to aircraft technicians’ unrest.

The technicians who went on strike on Tuesday demanded a salary review, redundancy payment in salary, health benefits and promotion according to the salary structure, sources said.

AIESL was not part of the Air India divestment agreement by the Center last year. It did not respond to PTI’s request for a statement on the matter.
