Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined the BJP’s opposition to dynastic politics and said on Tuesday that it is because of him that children of several MPs have not been given tickets in the recently concluded election polls, according to sources.
Both Modi and BJP president JP Nadda were congratulated at the BJP parliamentary party meeting here for the saffron party’s electoral victory in four states. In the recently concluded election polls in five states, the BJP retained power in four, including politically crucial Uttar Pradesh. At the meeting, Modi asked party MPs to fight against dynastic politics, as it is dangerous for democracy, sources said.
To combat dynastic politics, the BJP must monitor such practices within the organization, Modi said, adding that if the children of some party MPs did not get tickets in the election polls, sources say it was because of him. Modi also appreciated the recently released movie “The Kashmir Files” and suggested such films should be made more often, sources said.
According to BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, who attended the meeting, Modi asked MPs to identify 100 such booths in their respective constituencies where the BJP received relatively fewer votes and identify the reasons behind it.
However, he also thanked MPs for their support of the party, Tiwari said. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also gave a presentation on the Operation Ganga evacuation exercise to help stranded Indians leave war-ravaged Ukraine.
