State Labor Minister V Sivankutty announced a “comprehensive investigation” into the incident that occurred when workers were laying pillars at the site Friday afternoon.

The Kerala government on Saturday announced an injunctive relief of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of four guest workers from West Bengal, who died after the earth collapsed at a construction site in the electronic city in Ernakulam. State Labor Minister V Sivankutty announced a “comprehensive investigation” into the incident that occurred when workers were laying pillars at the site Friday afternoon.

“Works Commissioner S Chithra will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident,” the minister said in a press release.

The Ministry of Labor also announced that necessary steps will be taken to transport the workers’ bodies to West Bengal. The government will bear the costs for this.

“The government will also provide Rs two lakh interim aid to the families of the deceased. The injured will be treated free of charge,” the minister said. Here two people are admitted to the Kalamassery Medical College.
