We visited the factory of Parag Milk Foods Ltd. in Manchar, Pune and spoke to senior management. We were impressed with the degree of automation the company has implemented in its production process (especially in cheese and whey protein). We learned how cheese making is not only a process, but also an art! (taste varies by product and company).
Parag Milk Foods’ robust research into Indian customers helped them deliver buttery cheese that became an instant hit in the market. The company is also pursuing aggressive growth in the whey protein segment, which will increase margin. We liked the concept of pride of cow (100% control over value chain and customer experience) that scales well.
On the positive side, Parag Milk Foods aims to increase the number of cows by 3-4 fold over the next three years.
