Both the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33 will receive the main operating system for four years and security updates for up to five years.
Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G launched globally today, March 17. They are pretty much the same phones on many levels. The core hardware, Samsung’s new Exynos 1280 5nm chip, is the same across the board. The battery capacity is also the same at 5,000 mAh. The same goes for the fast charging stats. This is 25W. (You don’t get a charger with either phone.) The A53 and A33 both have an IP67 rating and run One UI 4.1 software based on Android 12.
That software is their biggest draw. Like the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung has announced that both the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33 will receive the main operating system for four years and security updates for up to five years. Samsung hasn’t revealed prices yet, but it’s safe to assume that both phones will go unbeaten, at least in terms of software support. The only other brand that comes close is Apple.

Last year’s Galaxy A-series phones brought Samsung up to speed with the competition, the biggest highlight being their high-refresh-rate screens. The Galaxy A52 in particular was appreciated for its compact form factor and overall value proposition. The A53 continues to build on this. Curiously, the Galaxy A73 – which would have replaced the Galaxy A72 – is missing, which was pinned to launch next to it. However, that didn’t happen.
Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, Galaxy A33 5G Specifications, Features

Both phones get Samsung’s Exynos 1280 chip paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of expandable storage. Connectivity options include 5G and Bluetooth 5.1. The battery capacity is 5,000 mAh in both phones with support for 25W fast charging. There is no charging brick in the box.
