In three phases, WCF and PIF will educate more than 10 lakh students on the fundamentals of cyber security over an 18-month period.
WNS Cares Foundation (WCF), the CSR arm of WNS Global Services, has partnered with Pratham InfoTech Foundation (PIF) to provide practical cybersecurity knowledge to children and young people through the CyberSmart digital platform.
In three phases, WCF and PIF will educate more than 10 lakh students on the fundamentals of cyber security over an 18-month period. In the initial phase, WCF and PIF will shortlist 11 states across India to launch the CyberSmart campaign. As part of the campaign, PIF’s team will consist of nearly 50 members who will mobilize more than 20,000 CyberSmart teachers to conduct CyberSmart workshops in schools in the shortlisted states. The campaign educates students about the risks in cyberspace, preventive measures to avoid them, and actions to take if they are targeted by cybercriminals.
“Since launching in May 2020, CyberSmart has steadily spread the cybersecurity message across the country through a series of strategic partnerships. This partnership with the Pratham Infotech Foundation is a natural extension of our long-standing relationship,” said Shamini Murugesh, honorary chief mentor, WCF and creator, CyberSmart.
“WNS Cares Foundation and Pratham Infotech Foundation are focused on a common goal, leveraging digital platforms and solutions to make equal opportunities available to children and young people. This collaboration is a logical next step in that direction. With the CyberSmart campaign, we are empowering students to use cyberspace with knowledge and empower them to leverage growth and development opportunities with confidence,” added Prem Yadav, Co-Founder and CEO, PIF.
PIF, a non-profit organization working in India to bridge the digital divide, facilitate the adoption of information technologies (IT) in education and equip disadvantaged youth with skills, tools and capabilities required by the new global economy, is the oldest implementation of WCF partner for its digital programs. Since 2014, PIF has been implementing one of the WCF’s flagship initiatives, computer aided literacy and digital literacy as life skills.
